Holidays around the world can be a splendid display of celebration or remembering. Today, many countries such as Peru, Italy, and Venezuela are celebrating The Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. In 2016, The American Psychological Association (APA) published Stress in America: Coping with Change. This report analyzed the common stress factors Americans are currently experiencing.

Stress can be confusing. Sometimes we’ll have areas in our life that are going extremely well. While others are falling apart at the seams.
Stress is often broken down into 3 categories.
Chronic Stress, Acute Stress, Episodic Acute Stress
Chronic Stress happens when a person is enduring long periods a stress, stress from multiple areas in one's life, emotional pressure, and often times when a person’s body is suffering from underlying health issues. It feels as though you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Typically a person’s body will release corticosteroids, which are natural steroids found in the body. Our body’s natural steroids have many responsibilities including inflammation regulation, balancing salt levels, metabolism efficiency, and keeping our immunity nice and strong. Too much in our system can cause these things to get disrupted and not work properly.
Your Body On Stress
Stress doesn’t just take over our minds, it takes over our entire life. Physical and emotional ailments are common side effects of stress. People who suffer from chronic stress often suffer from a wide range of issues, creating a poor quality of life.
Some of the most common issues that arise from stress are
- Sleep - insomnia, oversleeping, exhaustion, drowsiness
- Mental / Physical / Emotional - anxiety, PTSD, depression
- Digestive - sick to stomach, irregularity in bowels
- Body - tension, knots, toxin build up, nerve issue and damage

- Bone Issues - Stress creates extra white blood cells which triggers inflammation in the body. It also creates plaque build up in our arteries.

Harvard University published a study that observed the amygdala, arteries, and heart health on people who were under stress. What they found was a higher risk of heart attack, an overactivated amygdala, and inflammation of the arteries.
Traditional Treatment Techniques
We have tons of ways to cope with stress. Eating healthy and treating your body well can help combat the effects of stress. A consistent routine is another great technique.
One of the most important things we can strive to do to combat stress is see the silver lining. What are your triggers? Can you use the stress to learn and then motivate yourself?
